El Paso Opera remembers one of their own

Georgianna Davanelos walked into the El Paso Ppera 14 years ago. She had big dreams and an even bigger voice, leading her to become a volunteer chorister.

But after she had climbed the latter to eventually become executive assistant, she used her influence to help young artists break in the business.

Davanelos was best known for her warm personality around the office and her ability to make everyone feel appreciated. But what she could do individually, she could share globally.

Friends of Davanelos are calling her death tragic. She was only 42 when she fell on the bathroom floor Monday. Police are calling it an accident. She leaves behind a mother and sister.

Davanelos always had a goal of helping young artists succeed, and her dream lives on. There is now a scholarship foundation in her name that will go toward funding new artists.
