La Nube gala raises funds to reduce admission, field trip costs

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -– La Nube STEAM Discovery Center raised funds to expand access to its programs for families during its second annual gala.

The "A Night Among the Stars" gala brought together more than 350 donors on Aug. 13, La Nube said. The event also marked two years since it opened in Downtown El Paso.

La Nube said it'll use funds to reduce admission for families experiencing financial barriers. It will also use the money for free events.

Additionally, the discovery center said the funds will help lower the cost of school field trips.

Funds raised will also support hands-on STEAM learning, including camps, workshops, exhibits and other educational programs.

La Nube said the amount raised during the gala represents 24% of what is needed to support its La Nube for All initiative. About 41% of La Nube's current attendance is supported through the program.

"The success of this gala is something to celebrate," said Karla Salazar, chief advancement officer at La Nube. "One extraordinary night can create momentum; lasting impact requires a community that continues to stand behind the mission."
