Walk of Hope supports local families

EL PASO, Texas — The El Paso community is invited to come together Saturday to support children and families affected by pediatric cancer during Candlelighters’ Walk of Hope.

The event will take place from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, at the Ascarate Park Pavilion.

Organizers said Candlelighters supports about 175 families across the Borderland as they navigate a child’s cancer diagnosis.

The event will include vendors, entertainment and a walk around Ascarate Park. Participants can register in advance or sign up at the event.

The walk is expected to begin around 7:30 or 8 p.m., once the sun goes down and hundreds of luminarias are lit.

Organizers said each luminaria represents a child who has been part of Candlelighters, giving each light a story and meaning as participants make their way around the park.

People are welcome to attend even if they have not registered in advance.
