House fire leaves an estimate of $50,000 worth of damage

Fire crews battled a house fire Sunday morning that resulted in damages estimated at $50,000.

Fire officials said the blaze broke out around 7:19 a.m. On the 9300 block of Montmarte Drive.

Crews witnessed heavy smoke and flames coming from a garage of a two-story home, and began taming the fire.

Officials said 9 unites and 25 firefighters were on the scene.

No one was injured by the fire. A couple in their 60s were in the home at the time of the blaze, but evacuated without harm. Smoke detectors and a neighbors alert helped keep the family safe, according to fire officials.

The origin of the fire was determined to be the garage, investigators determined.

The garage saw most of the fire damage, but the home sustained smoke damage, fire officials said.

A Nissan Frontier was also damaged by the blaze.
