El Diario de Juarez journalists attacked
Three journalists went into downtown Juarez to work a story.
El Diario de Juarez reported the three journalists were walking when three other men reportedly told them they weren’t wanted in the area and asked them to leave.
The journalists decided to leave but not before they got a few snapshots of the men.
The journalists said that’s when one of the men made a call and asked the person on the other line if they had permission to beat up the journalists.
And it appears they did.
Diario de Juarez reported the journalists were assaulted by 11 other men on the street.
One of the pictures shows a journalist on the ground getting kicked.
His cellphone was also taken away.
Police on foot witnessed the attack and arrested three of the men.
ABC-7 spoke with Rocio Gallegos, the editorial director of El Diario de Juarez.
She could not tell ABC-7 what story the journalists were working on but said the journalists are okay and back at work.
Gallegos also told ABC-7 the men arrested are detained in a Juarez prison.
