Horizon City fire chief diagnosed with leukemia
Fire Chief Allen Keys has served the Horizon City Fire Department for 32 years. But all that came to a halt recently when Keys was diagnosed with acute leukemia.
Keys, a father of two, traveled to the Mayo Clinic in Arizona to undergo treatment. His family was devastated by the news.
“It felt like someone ripped my heart out of my chest,” Cassie Keys, Allen’s daughter, said. “But we are holding together with the support of the community.”
Cassie and her family are using the crowdfunding site GoFundMe to help raise $15,000 for Key’s treatments. In the first three days, the Keys received $4,000 and are hoping for more donations.
