Las Cruces man pleads guilty to federal possession of child pornography.

Juan C. Rodriguez, 36, of Las Cruces, New Mexico, plead guilty Monday to possession of child pornography in a Las Cruces federal court.

He was arrested April 23, 2014.

The indictment alleged that he possessed child pornography between June and August of 2013.

Rodriguez will be sentenced to 37 months in federal prison, to be followed by a period of supervised release determined by the court. He will also be required to register as a sex offender.

During Monday’s hearing, Rodriguez admitted he used a computer to download child pornography. During a search warrant executed at his residence in August of 2013, law enforcement officers seized his computer. Officers uncovered around 30 still images and 5 videos consistent with child pornography.

Rodriguez remains detained pending his sentence hearing, which has yet to be scheduled.
