Woman sentenced after pleading guilty in El Paso officer-injury crash case

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA)-- According to court records, Vanessa Loreli Ronnebaum has been sentenced after pleading guilty to stealing an SUV and crashing into an El Paso Police Vehicle, injuring two officers.

Court records show Ronnebaum pleaded guilty on Sept. 17 to evading arrest with a vehicle, two counts of aggravated assault against a public servant, and theft of property valued between $2,500 and $30,000.

Records indicate Ronnebaum was sentenced to five years in prison for evading arrest and five years for each of the two aggravated assault charges.

Ronnebaum was also sentenced to 18 months in state jail for the theft of property charge. Court records show she received credit for 177 days served.

ABC-7 originally reported that a woman, later identified as Ronnebaum, had stolen a vehicle and led officers on a chase, then "rammed the stolen vehicle into the driver's door of a police unit, causing both vehicles to be disabled".
