El Paso photographer taking senior pictures to another level

“These photos get sent to your family and you don’t want just you’re average picture of you in front a green screen,” said high school senior Kendra Melendez.

Melendez is getting ready for her senior portrait, as thousands of students in the Borderland do every year some blush, some eyelash curls and even a stylish hairdo.

But getting get a personal hair and makeup artist along with a personal photographer is not traditional by any means.

“I deal with fashion, I deal with hair and makeup, I get to style them to just show these girls how beautiful they are” said photographer Brittni Shroeder.
Schroeder is starting a trend in El Paso.
Taking senior pictures to another level.

“This is the beginning of the rest of their life, this is what they’ve waited 12 years to do, so I will create an experience that will last forever,” said Schroeder.
Schroeder says she tries to get know her clients to bring out their personality in pictures, each one unique.

“I go to their house, I usually end up their bedroom to see what they’re into, what they’re hobbies are, what clubs they’re into, who their friends are,” said Schroeder.

“Every second Brittni said ‘turn this way, smile this way, ok no smile, look down, look up and it just makes you feel like a celebrity and it makes it so mo much fun,” said Melendez.
The cost of the photo packages can range anywhere from $500 to $1,800 including makeup and hair.

The trend is so popular, some students are even avoiding class rings in order to save money for the amazing pictures.
“You can’t put a price at making someone feel good about themselves, said Schroeder.
“After everything was done it was worth it and these pictures I want to show my kids when they grow up and say this is me when I was a senior and these photos are timeless,” said Melendez.
