Miners take on #3 U of A Wildcats

The UTEP Miners took on the #3 ranked University of Arizona Wildcats at the Don Haskins Center Friday night.

The game was a complete sellout and is the first sold out game for the men’s basketball team since 2010.

But the student section only sold 80% of the tickets and the other 20% had to be sold to the general public. UTEP officials told ABC 7 the remaining tickets were sold in less than an hour.

Fans of both teams were excited for the nationally televised game.

“I have a lot of my cousins from Tuscon here and I told them to come down because we are going to beat you this time,” one Miner fan said.

“We are undefeated and ranked third in the country,” One Wildcat fan said. “It’s going to be a wildcat kind of night.”

Despite a win or loss for the hometown, all the fans we talked to said they are proud of the team no matter what.

The game was televised on Fox Sports 1.
