El Paso Inc.: Sib Abraham’s clients ask ‘Where’s the money?’
Former clients of Joseph “Sib” Abraham say they paid the late El Paso lawyer large retainer fees and advances, some in excess of $1 million. Now they’re wondering where their money went.
Abraham, a well-known criminal defense lawyer whose career spanned five decades in El Paso, died of cancer on July 4, 2014 at the age of 77.
In Texas, lawyers are required to keep money entrusted to them by clients in separate client trust accounts.
Former clients have filed $1.3 million in claims against the estate, according to documents filed in El Paso probate court.
