Flames ripped through an abandoned building in central El Paso
El Paso, Tx- Fire fighters battled a large fire in south central El Paso Monday morning.
Black smoke filled the air as approximately three dozen fire fighters rushed to the scene to contain the massive fire.
The structure’s roof and a wall collapsed sending two firefighters to the hospital with minor injuries after part of a wall collapsed on them.
One resident was transported to a hospital due to smoke inhalation.
The grocery store had been vacant for over one year. Project Vida’s Executive Director Bill Schlessinger told ABC-7 the organization just bought the property last Friday.
The building suffered heavy fire and smoke damage. Fire officials say the damage is considered a total loss, the cause of the fire is unknown.
