StormTRACK Weather: One more day of winds, cooler temps and even a chance of rain

The StormTRACK Weather team issued a First Alert in effect through Thursday morning, for a windy and cool commute to work. In addition, radar indicated spotty light rain moving across the region.

Through the morning, wind gusts are expected up to 35 mph, especially in West and Far East El Paso, and the west slopes of the Organ Mountains near Las Cruces.

Also expected through the morning, a 20% shot at rain across Dona Ana and El Paso counties. The chance of rain drops to 10% around 10 a.m. through the early afternoon.

Some haze is left behind from the winds yesterday, and temperatures are much cooler today. Forecast highs are only expected in the mid 60s, which is considerably lower than the average high for May 1 of 83 degrees.

Expect windy conditions to last through the afternoon, but the first alert to expire by noon. Do expect cooler temperatures today as well, with a high of 66 in Las Cruces and El Paso with overnight lows into the low to mid 40s.
