One person airlifted to hospital after semi-truck crash near Eastlake

UPDATE (11:52 AM) -- The El Paso Fire Department has confirmed that one person was airlifted to the hospital in serious condition after a crash on I-10 near the Americas exit.

According to the El Paso Fire Department, the driver of a semi-truck had to be extricated and was then airlifted to a local hospital.

Crews also worked on containing a fuel leak from the crash.


EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- According to the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), there was a crash reported around 10 a.m. Sunday at Gateway East and Eastlake.

TxDOT traffic cameras in the area show a large response from the El Paso Police Department and the El Paso Fire Department. Officials are also blocking off traffic from passing through Gateway East and have closed the off-ramp to Eastlake.

The El Paso Fire Department's FireSTAR helicopter was also seen landing near the area.
