Police identify driver killed after crashing SUV into Sun Metro bus

UPDATE:

El Paso police have identified the man killed in a car crash Thursday evening in the Lower Valley. This happened around 6:30 p.m. on the 7600 block of North Loop.

They say 21-year old Gilberto Guerra was driving his 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe when he slammed into the back of a Sun Metro Bus that was parked along the shoulder loading passengers. Guerra was taken to Del Sol Medical Center where he later died.

Investigators say speed was a factor, although it is unknown if alcohol was a factor as well.

Investigators are awaiting the toxicology results.

One man who was about to get on the bus was knocked to the ground and struck by debris from the crash. He suffered minor injuries.

The bus driver and two other passengers also suffered minor injuries.

This is the 2nd traffic fatality for 2015.
