UTEP’s countdown to centennial begins

UTEP is set to begin it’s 100-day Centennial year countdown. UTEP officials unveil an electronic marquee in front of the Centennial Museum, which has remained a secret for weeks.
GECU, partnered with UTEP for the big surprise and will also celebrate the University’s 100th year with UTEP’s historical milestones. The Welcome Center will serve as the official headquarters for UTEP’s Centennial Celebration throughout 2014, featuring an exhibit on UTEP’s history, rotating exhibits on topics including athletics and a Centennial Photo Contest exhibiting memories from alumni and the public, a children’s learning area, and a gift shop stocked with new Centennial items. Centennial Museum Director Maribel Villalva stated in a press release “We’re really proud to showcase UTEP, and the fact that we can be a part of this celebration is very exciting, “It’s a welcome opportunity to do something that on our own would have been really hard to do.” The electronic marquee can be seen daily by anyone walking through the UTEP campus.
