El Paso Police investigate body found in Downtown Friday morning
El Paso police say no arrests have been made, and their investigation continues into a charred set of human remains found late last week in downtown El Paso.
An El Paso Electric Company crew was trying to remove a meter when they found a burned body in the basement of a vacant building in the 100 block of North Mesa in Downtown El Paso.
El Paso Police have not been able to identify the body or even determine if it is female or male due to the burns. The street was shut down for several hours as police continued the investigation and even set up a mobile command center vehicle.
The Crimes Against Persons unit of the El Paso Police responded after the El Paso Electric crews reported the body after 9 a.m. Friday.
Police investigate unattended deaths as a homicide until it is ruled out and does not necessarily mean it is a homicide.
