First Alert: Heavy rain, possible flooding and cooler temperatures
The StormTrack Weather team has issued a First Alert due to showers and thunderstorms with the possibility of flooding for some locations.
The showers and thunderstorms that effected Hudspeth County overnight and early Friday morning began moving into far East El Paso.
The heaviest rain has effected east El Paso we’ve also recieved reports of heavy rain in northeast El Paso.
Portions of Hudspeth County received 2 inches of rain additional rain remains in the forecast, other areas may see 1 to 3 inches.
Heavy rain will increase the potential for flash flooding as a result a flash flood watch is in effect for the Borderland through tonight .
A cold front will arrive this afternoon dropping temperatures on Saturday and Sunday , forecast temperatures will run at least 10 degrees below normal. 80 degrees is the forecast high in El Paso with a 60% chances for showers and thunderstorms with winds 10 to 15 mph, gust 25 mph.
Take a poncho if you plan to watch any high school football games tonight there is a 50 percent chance for showers and thunderstorms with winds 20 to 25 mph,
You also might want to grab a light jacket 62 degrees is the forecast low. Las Cruces expect temperatures to reach the low 80’s under mostly cloudy skies with a 60 percent chance for showers and thunderstorms, winds 15 to 20 mph this afternoon with gust at 25 mph, tonight 61 degrees.
