First alert: Potential for possible severe storms, isolated flooding this afternoon
A storm system moving in from the west will increase the chances for rain and the potential for severe weather in the Borderland. Any severe thunderstorms could bring strong wind gusts, hail and flash flooding with them.
As the storm system approaches, it will drag in moisture from Mexico. The moisture, along with daytime heating will bring the threat for severe storms. Rain chances will be at only 10% for El Paso and 20% for Las Cruces on Sunday afternoon and evening, then rise to 30% on Monday afternoon. With already saturated ground, isolated flooding is a stronger concern for areas that are still trying to recover from last Monday’s floods.
