Fort Bliss soldier killed in ski accident in Santa Fe

A Fort Bliss soldier was killed Saturday when she struck a tree at Ski Santa Fe, according to the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office.

According to a report by KOB-TV in Albuquerque, she was struggling to ski down a blue diamond run.

Fort Bliss officials identified her as Captain Angela Erale, of the the 1st Armored Division. She had been working in the public affairs office.

Her fianc told authorities he told her to fall when she lost control, but she crashed head-on into a tree, accodting to KOB’s report.

The KOB report states Erale was wearing rented equipment which is maintained regularly and was in good condition.
