Borderland residents watch Democratic Party’s dominance in midterm elections

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- Tuesday night's results showed the Democratic Party's dominance in the midterm elections. Residents gathered at watch parties throughout the Borderland.

ABC-7 was live at the El Paso County Democratic Party's election watch party, where supporters celebrated incoming results since polls closed at 7 p.m.

Texas saw major upsets in the state's Senate and governor races, with James Talarico and Gina Hinojosa defeating their Republican opponents. For the first time in more than 30 years, Democrats are projected to win state-wide races in the Lone Star State.

ABC News also projected that Democrats will take control of the House and the Senate, which means they would have control of Congress.
