Montwood project drags on

Eastsiders will have to endure two more weeks of growing pains before the Montwood Drive reconstruction is complete.

Montwood is completely closed between McRae and Wedgewood, and will remain closed for the next two weeks.

Drivers are threading their way through the Eastridge neighborhood to bypass the closure.

Residents have endured a frustrating series of closures and detours that has continued for two years, as the City has worked to complete a flood control project.

New medians, sidewalks and storm drains will be part of the finished product.

Extending the closure for two more weeks is a decision the city made last week just days before it was set to open.

City officials say they do appreciate everyone’s patience as this project is close to completion.
