Festival celebrates spectrum of sexual identity at NMSU

thank you for that report. the freedom to express one’s sexual identity at new mexico state university… all this week. today was the first day of the festival of colors. like the name suggests, it celebrates the spectrum of sexual identity and orientations found on campus. groups come together as community to eat, dance, and support each other when others might not understand their struggle: “i’ve lived in Michigan, i live in Ohio. The laws and attitudes, beliefs are not where they are right here. So i felt like coming west, coming to New Mexico was going to be a really great place where i could be accepted and strive, and where i could learn.” last year around 400 students came together to celebrate and this year those numbers are expected to grow. we’ll be right back.
