Plaza Classic Film Festival to add camp for children, art and history museum activities
The 2015 Plaza Classic Film Festival is making some additions to this year’s festival.
The festival is presented by the El Paso Community Foundation.
Eric Pearson, president and CEO of the El Paso Community Foundation, said a children’s camp for 9 to 12 year olds is being added. The camp will have instructors teaching the children how to write scripts, shoot and edit the video and their films will be presented the last weekend of the festival.
“That will be a fun thing to do. We’ll probably have registration opening up in a month or two,” Pearson said.
The festival also is partnering with the history museum to have an exhibit around “Gone with the Wind.”
The exhibit will have some official dresses and pieces of art and correspondence from the Harry Ransom Center at UT Austin.
Work is being done to have the art museum show Andy Warhol’s movies in conjunction with the Rubin Center at UTEP.
And for those who like seeing films in an outdoor setting, festival organizers will make a return trip to the ballpark with a film being shown there on Aug. 5, the eve of the 10 day festival.
More than 90 films will be screened at this year’s festival.
