City will soon reveal ‘El Paso Up’ tourism campaign
Early last year the Sun City began promoting a slogan: “It’s all good EP”
In the coming weeks we’ll be hearing yet another slogan for the city: “El Paso Up”
It’s part of a new tourism campaign to try to make El Paso a destination city.
Some people ABC-7 spoke with have heard the phrase: “It’s all good EP.”
Others, hadn’t.
With this new, catchy slogan in the works, ABC-7 took to the streets to ask what some El Pasoans think about “El Paso Up”!
ABC-7 crews asked people “Do you know El Paso’s slogan?
“The best city? The Sun city,” said El Pasoan Amy Pinto.
Another local responds: “El Paso keep it real? “El Paso keep it cool?” said Will Aguirre.
In early 2014 the city announced a campaign by the Convention and Visitors Bureau meant to spur positive conversations about El Paso.
The catch phrase “It’s all good EP” used as a hash tag by many online also caught some criticism.
Now the city is ready to begin a refreshed tourism campaign with a new slogan:”El Paso Up”
“We had been running a promotion and campaign called Real Adventure for about six years and about 18 months ago we began the process of developing a new campaign for attracting folks to El Paso,” said Bryan Crowe, general manager for Destination El Paso, an organization that promotes the city.
Crowe says the “El Paso Up” promotion is intended more for out-of-towners looking to visit the city.
Locals ABC-7 spoke with say they do feel city has done a better job marketing itself.
“With all these changes the city is trying to do I do think the city is trying to market themselves in a positive light,” said Aguirre.
Even out-of-towners say they enjoy El Paso’s marketing appeal.
“When we first came into the airport they promoted the bowling with bowling ball pinatas,” said Michigan native Sheri Petari.
But as far as the new slogan “El Paso Up” locals and out-of-towners say it needs more kick.
“The original is better,” said Pinto.
“It’s OK. It could be better,” said Aguirre.
The city will be unveiling the new “El Paso Up” campaign during tourism week beginning May 2 and this doesn’t mean people will be seeing an end to “It’s all good EP;” the city still wants the phrase to be used by locals to promote the city.
