that was the headline on deadspin dot com after the rockets shocking comeback to steal game 6 and force a seventh and all deciding game against the clippers.. the rockets were in position to become the ninth team in nba history to win a series after falling behind 3 games to one … to the toyota center in houston…. clippers and rockets game 7… the momentum still vary much with the rockets… off the inbound… pablo prigioni steals it and finds harden… and the bearded one… knows what to do… later… harden again … attacks and leaves it for howard who finishes with the dunk … second half… it starts to get out of hand… harden… to josh smith… triple … later… harden with the shake and bake… fear the beard!… he had 31… 4th quarter… clippers make it interesting… deandre jordan with the dunk and the foul… but the day belongs to the rockets.. trevor ariza… puts it away .. houston… problem solved… rockets come back from a 3-1 series deficit and win… 113- 100 the final… the chihuahuas entered this game cold… i’m talking alaska cold… they were riding a 5 game losing streak and searching for answers … looking to snap out of it against fresno… to southwest university park we go … look at chico and the kids showing of the moves… bottom 7th… rymer liriano… good bye… solo shot… his 4th of the season…. we’re even at one apiece… the game goes to extra innings… and in the top of the 11th… it’s matt duffy.. base knock up the middle… that’ll bring in a run for the grizzlies and the dogs would not answer.. make it 6 losses in a row… chihuahuas lose 2-1… we’ve got some new state champions here in the borderland… while the college kids wrapped up their meets today… the high schoolers finished their seasons over in austin… and what a weekend it was for some of our local kids … we start with paulo benavides… he wins the gold medal in the pole vault… and not only that… he sets the state record… 17 feet and 6.5 inches… to put that into perspective… he would have finished second in the conference usa tournament and only by 2 and a half inches… and to think… he’s a senior in high school …. the best is yet to come… michael johnson had himself a great weekend too… he caps an unreal season by claiming not one.. but two gold medals at the state tournament … he didn’t lose a single race on the track this year… there he is finishing up the 800 meter run …. and then later… this is him claiming the 1600 meter run as well… johnson adds to a historic year for san elizario… perhaps the greatest year in the history of the school’s athletic program… here are the two champs… “i wouldn’t be where i am right now without my coach. He’s also my dad. We work really well together and we have this really great relationship and i love working with him.” “i came out here wi the mindset of just going for that gold and bringing back two more state championships to our school. The class of 2015 has done such an amazing job.” you’d be hard pressed to find anyone as good as those two… congrats to both of them and to all of you who represented our great city… we’re very proud of you… thank you for shing an amazing light on our home… there’s an old saying … seeing is believing… well… charlotte brown is putting that to the test… despite being legally blind… brown has never lost belief in herself… against amazing odds she reached the uil state track meet in the pole vault… and she didn’t stop there… this is brown at the state tournament in austin… and she not only made it to state… but she will earn a medal… charlotte brown earns the bronze medal in the girl’s 4-a pole vault… she’s from emory, texas… that’s about an hour east of dallas … here’s some perspective… there she is receiving the medal… and that is her guide dog with her on the podium… simply remarkable achievement … here she is… “Just don’t limit yourself an don’t tell yourself that you can’t do things. Often times limitations are like illusions. They’re not real. You think they are. So i think the biggest thing is to always tell yourself you can do it no matter what it is.” brown was born with natural eyesight but developed cataracts only a matter of months later… by 11 it started to fade… she cleared 11 feet, 6 inches on her bronze medal clinching vault … here’s how the track
