Attempted home invasion in East El Paso

It was a frightening moment for Raul Ruiz as three suspects attempted to rob his home Thursday night.

Investigators from the Department’s Gang Unit responded to assist Pebble Hills Regional Command TAC officers with an attempted burglary.

Ruiz said he was shocked when a gun was raised to his face when he opened the door.

“Then he’s like alright step back and face down and that’s when he brought up the shotgun and put it in my face,” Ruiz said.

Ruiz also said he was tied up inside his own home for more than 2 hours as the suspects trashed his bedroom and attempted to steal his belongings.

As the officers approached they encountered 17 year old Julio Lopez Troncoso and 18 year old Giovanni Martinez as they were leading stolen property from the residence into their car.

Troncoso and Martinez along with a third suspect fled on foot. Troncoso and Martinez were apprehended a short time later. The third suspect was able to elude capture.

Preliminary investigation reveals that the residence was randomly selected. Investigators are working to identify and arrest the third suspect.
