Bowling: USBC Open Championship Inside Look

The USBC Open Championship draws hundreds of bowlers from across the world in just 4 months.

One bowler from El Paso didn’t take part in the competition, but participated from a different point of view as a lane monitor.

Bennie Grayson said taking part in the Championship is one of the coolest experiences he has ever had.

“We’ve met bowlers from the Bahamas, Hawaii from new york all the way to California and in between,” Grayson said. “And each one of them has their own story.”

Although Grayson has bowled for more than 30 years, he wanted to still be a part of the tournament without taking to the lanes. An experience just as rewarding.

“You see all sorts of bowlers,” Grayson said. “Very good bowlers and not so good bowlers. But they are all out here trying to do something and coming up with positive perspective, and that’s what I have learned the most from here.”

The Championship ends July 11th, and will take place in Reno, Nevada next year.
