Hail, thunderstorms hit area from Deming to El Paso
Thunderstorms coming from the Southwest rolled through Deming and Southern New Mexico before hitting Las Cruces and El Paso.
A truck got stuck in a flood control channel on Diana St. in Northeast El Paso and the driver was able to escape. The flood control channel is the same one where a woman drowned last year.
The El Paso Fire Department tweeted that there were three water rescues Friday afternoon with everyone surviving.
Over in West El Paso, on Crown Ridge St., a neighborhood was digging out from several inches of hail, mud, and washed away landscaping.
At Rosenbaum near Helen of Troy, also on the West Side, the road was flooded and then cracked into several large sheets of asphalt.
Debris on the road led to the closing of Trans Mountain Road Friday night with an expected clearing time after midnight.
The inclement weather also led to a postponement of the Chihuahuas home game against the Isotopes. The two teams will play in a doubleheader Saturday, June 11 starting at 5:35 p.m. The second game will begin one half hour after the first. Both games are scheduled to be seven innings.
Any ticket for the Saturday, July 11th game is good for both the 5:35 p.m. game and 7:35 p.m. game. Fireworks will begin immediately following second game.
Tickets from the July 10th game may be exchanged for any future home game based on availability. Tickets for tonight’s game are not good for Saturday’s game. For more information, visit our website at EPChihuahuas.com.
