Plaza Classic bringing actress Cindy Williams, Academy Award winner Louise Fletcher to El Paso
The El Paso Community Foundation’s Plaza Classic Film Festival continues its tradition of bringing in some of Hollywood’s classic stars with appearances by actresses Cindy Williams and Louise Fletcher at this year’s festival.
‘Laverne & Shirley’ star Cindy Williams will appear with George Lucas’ 1973 film ‘American Graffiti’ at 7 p.m. Friday, August 14 in the Plaza Theatre.

Williams, who grew up in Texas, will sign copies of her new memoir, “Shirley, I Jest!,” at noon Saturday, August 15 in the El Paso Community Foundation’s Foundation Room, 333 N. Oregon. Admission is free, but book purchase is required.
Williams played Shirley Feeney on TV’s “Laverne & Shirley” for seven seasons.
Academy Award winner Louise Fletcher will appear with Milos Forman’s “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” at 7 p.m. Friday, August 7 in the Plaza Theatre.
Fletcher won the best supporting actress Oscar for her portrayal of the evil Nurse Ratched in the 1975 drama. Tickets are $10 at the box office, Ticketmaster, plazaclassic.com and 800-745-3000.
Fletcher also will headline a private reception for Festival Pass holders. In addition, Fletcher will appear with director Robert Altman’s 1974 cult hit “Thieves Like Us,” her first credited movie role, at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 8 in the Plaza Theatre. In addition to Cindy Williams and Louise Fletcher, the Plaza Classic will bring back frequent guest Walter Strony, who will accompany the 1920 silent classic The Mark of Zorro on the Plaza Theatre’s restored Wyler Mighty Wurlitzer organ. The movie will be shown at 4 p.m. Sunday, August 9 in the Plaza Theatre. Tickets are $6 at the box office, Ticketmaster and plazaclassic.com.
El Paso-raised actress Yvette Yates also will return to the Plaza Classic, where she debuted in 2014. Yates will appear with the new comedy horror movie Bloodsucking Bastards at 7:30 p.m. Friday, August 7 at the Philanthropy Theatre. Tickets are $4 at the box office, Ticketmaster and plazaclassic.com. The comedy, by Los Angeles’ troupe Dr. God, debuted at this year’s Slamdance Film Festival and will be released commercially on September 4.
