ABC-7 obtains 911 call in alleged beating, robbery
and i’m rick cabrera. let’s get right to that vicious attack in las cruces and the search for the suspect. a 61-year old, brutally beaten and dumped on the side of the road. police are looking for 37-year old abel montes. they say he has ties to the vado and las cruces areas. investigators think he may be in el paso… … or may have crossed into mexico. police say montes may still be with his girlfriend, 41-year old martina hernandez. the couple is accused of car jacking the man on july first … beating him… then dumping him near the 53- hundred block of sunny acres drive in las cruces. tonight, abc-seven with new perspective … from the 9-1 call from the man who found the victim outside of a house in that neighborhood. abc7’s josie ortegon is live with our new mexico mobile newsroom. the 61-year old victim from las cruces is still fighting for his life. we got the 11-minute 9-1 recording … and it details just how brutal this beating was: pkg: recording: “this guy jus came up to my door, he’s bleeding, it looks like he got cut up, he’s full of blood. i guess he got beat up and they stole his car.” stand-up “police say it’ unclear what the relationship between the victim and abel montes may have been. but they do know that the victim was dumped here off of sunnyacres drive. the victim then staggers to this house right behind me. the owner then calls 911 about a bloodied victim on his doorstep.” recording: “he wa bleeding from everywhere, his face, his hands.” at that point the man was falling in and out of consciousness. recording: “he doesn’t know where it happened? no. my mom keeps asking him, he just doesn’t know. he keeps pointing down the road.” the injuries were so severe, he thought he was shot in the head. recording: “he got hit by a shotgun on his head, he’s saying he got shot.” police say he did not suffer from a gunshot wound, but rather blunt force trauma. the victim’s car was later found in downtown el paso. leading police to believe montes is still in the borderland: 06:02:08 “this is somebody who committed a crime, a heinous crime. obviously this person has the capacity to commit a crime.” crimestoppers is offering a one- thousand dollar reward for anyone with information. if you know where montes or hernandez is, please call police. live in lc, jo, abc7. josie, let’s thank you for the latest. latest. new
