Grizzlies Take Second Bite Out of Chihuahuas
Fresno’s Dan Straily pitched seven innings and allowed only two El Paso runs in the Grizzlies’ 8-2 win over the ChihuahuasFridaynight. Straily struck out nine Chihuahuas and walked one.
For the third game in a row, the Chihuahuas scored in the first inning.Friday’s early run came when Casey McElroy, the second batter of the game, hit a solo home run over the right field wall. It was McElroy’s third Triple-A home run this season, with all of them coming on the road.
The Grizzlies scored four runs over the first three innings and the 4-1 score held all the way until the top of the seventh, when Cody Decker launched a solo home run onto the lawn seating in left-center field. It was Decker’s team-leading 16 th home run of the season.
Fresno scored four late insurance runs off the Chihuahuas’ bullpen to secure the win. The Grizzlies have now beaten the Chihuahuas in 10 of the last 12 meetings between the two clubs.
