Residents displaced after eastside apartment fire

Several residents were evacuated from their apartments by fire crews early Thursday morning.

It happened at the La Estancia apartment complex, at 7900 Viscount. The El Paso Fire Department was called out to the fire at around 2 am. It took nearly two hours to combat the flames. Four apartment units were affected.

The fire was ruled an accident which started in a vacant unit, and was determined to be electrical in nature. There were no injuries sustained by anyone in the apartments, and no children of the families were involved. The damage to the property is estimated at $50,000.

This was the third fire to occur at the La Estancia Apartments in three years.
