Las Cruces churches consider changing security systems

of tips, and made a plea for the person responsible to come forward. las cruces crime stoppers is offering a five-thousand dollar reward for information that leads to an arrest. that tip line is 1-800 call fbi. meantime, churches are examing their security measures. abc-7’s jamie warren has that part of the story, live from our new mexico mobile newsroom. jamie? school was cancelled today at holy cross church, but things are getting back to normal. yesterda’ys incident has caused churches all over las cruces to rethink their security systems. “cleaning employees cleaned up debris this morning outside at calvary church, the other church targeted. leaders are now looking at ways to prevent future attacks. while calvary baptist church has a security camera, it doesn’t record video, church leaders tell me it’s used to provide a live feed to workers inside. lead pastor kevin glenn says security cameras aren’t the only thing they’re hoping to improve. he says they’ll look at changing the way mail is delivered. instead of using a mailbox they may change to hand delivery, though also possibly change the way church greeters are trained. “lead pastor: one of the things we’re going to need to look at is some additional training on helping them be okay with looking for anything that’s unusual in an individual or in their behavior, in their demeanor not only here but i know at holy cross, monsignor anderson is also looking at adding cameras to the outside. they have their inside covered but adding cameras to the outside and so i just think it’s another set of eyes. investigators have cleared both churches and leaders at calvary and holy cross are encouraging people to come back and worship as usual. as governor susana martinez said yesterday, quote, “this attac does not stop our lives.” jamie… on the story since it first broke yesterday morning… and keeping us up to date every step of the way. thank you. new mexico governor
