Child Abuse Case: ABC-7 Obtains 911 Call
the hospital this evening, according to police. the toddler has internal and external injuries and las cruces police say this is a severe case of abuse. his mother — 25- year-old alexandra moore– and her boyfriend –29-year- old mario gonzalez– were arrested monday on negligent child abuse charges. today, we hear the 911 call gonzalez made when he noticed something very wrong with his girlfriend’s son. abc-7’s jamie warren is live from our new mexico mobile newsroom. jamie? this is what gonzalez frantically told a dispatcher the moment he noticed the 3-year-old was unresponsive. nats: call ringing 911 operator: “911 emergency.” caller: “y uh my girl friends son just stopped breathing, he’s not, he just has a pulse but he’s not responding.” 911 operator: ” you know how to do cpr?” caller: “no!” 9 operator: “ok, i can help you through it, is he on the bed or where is he at?” caller: “he’s on the ground he’s still breathing but his eyes are open.’ 911 operator: “keep an eye on his breathing for me ok? and his eyes are open?” caller: ” yes, his eyes are opening,” 911 operator: “ok he shaking?” caller: “he movin he’s moving around by himself.” 911 operator: “ok he’s starting to move? caller: “he’s up” 911 operator: ” listen to me, what is your name?” caller: “mario.” 9 operator: “mario ok. is h shaking at all? do you think–” caller: “no he’s no shaking but he’s not moving.” 911 operator: ” ok i need you to notice if he does stop breathing ok. and is he your brother?” caller “no he’s my girlfriends son, he just got back from school, he sat down in his room, when i went in to look at him and he was on the bed and he wasn’t moving. yes he’s still breathing on his own but his eyes, his like he’s not blinking his eyes, he’s just staring like nothing.” “jose? hey buddy, your ok?” “he’s still blinking, hey buddy come on, he’s still breathing, he’s breathing on his own. he’s blinking his eyes still he just can’t breathe.” “jose look at me, can you loo at me buddy? move your arm.. move your arm.” “he still breathing but i need somebody here!” the boy remains in the hospital tonight. he was flown to el paso children’s hospital sunday with possible life threatening injuries. live in las cruces with our new mexico mobile newsroom. jamie warren abc7. jamie, thanks for the new perspective on a story people are talking about tonight. wildfires continue to
