Take a ride down the zip lines in Ruidoso

there’s a new thrill the mescalero apache tribe has built a pair of zip lines. tonight, our managing editor, eric huseby, shows you what the excitement’s all about. nats of riding in atv your trip aboard the apache eagle zip rider at the inn of the mountain gods begins with an a-t-v ride to the launch point on the other side of the lake. “then once you’re up to the top they strap you in, and away you go.” how you doing today? i’m all right – you guys have fun and enjoy the ride 1 .. 2 .. 3 … yee-haw! ….woo hoo the ride down reaches a top speed of more than fifty miles an hour. you’ll cover more than half a mile. and if you think you’re still going pretty fast at the end … moment of impact you are. but there’s more fun ahead, if you dare. the apache wind rider at ski apache is actually three different zip lines with a different kind of trolley mechanism. you take a class to learn how to control your speed and approach your landings. then you’re on the gondola … all the way to the top of sierra blanca. you start off more than 11-thousand feet up, jovian: you can see white sands from the top. beautiful i found thrillseekers young and old. nats what birthday are you having tomorrow? 78! congratulations! are you nervous? just a little. chuckle. when it’s your turn: ready? you’ll cover just short of a mile on the first line at close to sixty miles an hour. it really felt like you were out there for a while on the line. nats: it was amazing. the view was beautiful, and the speed was incredible. the middle leg … lets you skim right alongside the treeline for another, 1,900 feet. i looked over all the mountains, and underneath me, and you could just see all the trees and ski trails underneath you. and finally who’s going to win? probably me. nats of sudden surprise launch i liked this one. it was the fastest. the last 1,700 foot leg brings you the rest of the way down the mountain … and across the parking lot from the ski area. i got a couple bugs in my mouth. i forgot to break and hit a little bit hard. but it’s fun. /so thumbs up? / thumbs up! both attractions are open year-round, weather permitting. reservations are recommended. this high speed part was a lot of fun it was amazing. i loved it. in lincoln county, eric huseby, abc-7 the zip line at inn of the mountain gods the zip line at inn of the mountain gods the zip line at inn of the mountain gods costs $45-dollars to ride. the one at ski apache is $75.
