UTEP Football: Johnson and Metz Looking Good

utep head coach sean kugler knew his team would have to be deeper if it was going continue to improve… he’s definitely found depth… not just in the trenches… but at quarterback… once agiain… he praised freshman quarterback kavika johnson for his play… he also had good things to say about qb ryan metz.. there is kavika johnson and he is throwing with metz… metz is number 12… they’re competing for the starting quarterback job… at this point… it looks like a 2 man race between garrett simpson and mack leftwich… but coach kugler reiterated they will see the field this year… “metz can do a lot of things fo us. like kavika, we’re just not going to limit him to quarterback. he’s helping us out on special teams and he’ll have a role. both of those guys aren’t going to be standing on the sidelines. they’re going to be playing for us. i think they’re going to be exciting players for the miner fans.” utep scrimmages again tomorrow… michael sam is stepping away from
