let’s get right to the top stories from our ’round the clock news crew. a man was stabbed at a mesa inn in west el paso at around two this morning. multiple emergency units were at the scene. police found the 30-year-old stabbed several times. the victim was taken to local hospital. it’s unknown at this time if police made any arrests in the case. and just outside of our newsroom… a car on fire. this happened just after 3 this morning. a vehicle was heading east on executive center and west city… when the driver lost control of the vehicle, crashing into several metal posts and hitting a rock wall. the impact caused the engine to catch fire. fortunatly both the driver and the passenger were able to get out of the car before the fire started. officers believe speed may have been a factor in the crash. andrew a home is damaged after it caught fire saturday night. it happened on the 5600 block of saplinas at about 7 pm. the video shows fire crews working hard to put out the fire. smoke and flames were seen from outside the house. fire officials tell us the home was vacant when it caught fire. it’s unclear how the fire started. thankfully no injuries were reported. we’re learning more about the suspicious device that was found in front of a las cruces church. cg map the device was found friday morning at first presbyterian church on the 200 block of boutz. it’s across the street from las cruces high school. this is just two weeks after bombings at two other las cruces churches. the fbi is now investigating to see if the incidents are related abc-7’s jerry najera has the latest. on august 2nd this was the scene at calvary baptist church after an exlposive went off. a short while later another explosive device goes off at holy cross friday morning, it was a similar scene at yet another church: first presbyterian. the three incidents has las cruces residents concerned. “finding it at a church it’s just kind of crazy that people could be heartless to place it at a place of prayer” “it definitley make me fear for my life” authoritie say a grounds keeper found a suspicious device at around 9:30 friday morning. he called 911 and within minutes police closed off streets- nearby businesses were evacuated las cruces high school which is located across the street was on lockdown. isaac olivas has two daughters that attent the school. “as soon as i got wor that they put a bomb across the street well it can turn your life around” he tells m what his daughter experienced inside the school. “they kept them i the class room they didn’t let them out at all and had them in for a few hours brought them lunches too just to kind of accomadate them” th dona ana sheriffs bomb squad dismantled the device and no one was injured. the fbi is now conducting the investigation and interviewed several people saturday morning. las crucens hope all churches follow police advice–and add more security: “preparing for the wors scenario just kind of pre screening the whole environment the day before and the day of” “they coul have some type of police squad giving out surveillance to help them out” worshipers like bruc jackson say it’s all about vigilence. ” don’t think we need police officer or people carrying guns i don’t think that necessary but i do think we have to use wisdom and we have to have usher and the security team to surround the church and be watchfull and all the people that attend church have to be watchful” one of the church members who was there when they found the device says he was shocked. saying that area of the church where the device was found is used by the las cruces high school marching band. he said he’s seen students taking a break sitting in that exact spot where the device was found. las cruces police plan to conduct k-9 sweeps of churches and places of worship over the next couple of days looking for suspicious items. if you have any information on any of the devices you’re asked to call the fbi. deputies need your help finding a convicted sex offender. 24-year-old raul montes exposed himself in front of a 4-year-old girl and was convicted of indecency with a child. deputies went to his home for a regular verification check and learned he no longer lived there. montes is accused of failing to notify the sheriff’s office of his change of address. if you seen him, call the el paso county sheriff’s office immediatley. their number is 915-546-2280, now to the latest on a shooting death that left a las cruces teen dead. the four teens involved have been indicted by a grand jury. they are 17-year-old daniel munoz. 18- year-olds adrian jordan gift… adrian hortelano .. and deshawn hermans. they’re charged with first-degree felony murder, aggravated burglary and tempering with evidence, among other charges. deputies say 17-year old jaycob alba was with the group when they broke into a mobile home on the 26-hundred block of dona ana road. court documents state — the group targeted wrong home, they got scared and started firing their weapons. alba was shot and killed. all four will be tried in district court. the political season is underway… and top candidates made their cases at the iowa state fair in des moines yesterday. democratic and republican heavy- hitters paid visits to the iowa state fair… shaking hands… greeting supporters… and asking for votes. democratic front- runner hillary clinton was candid about the investigation into her private email server … trump was also there, talking about the u-s defense policy, saying the u-s has to have to strongest military in the world. republican candidate senator rick santorum and democratic senators lincoln chafee and bernie sanders also made appearances. officials in indonesia are now searching for a plane that went missing today. the control center lost contact with the air craft near the province of paupa. it happened 30 minutes after taking off. the plane was carrying 54 passengers including 5 crew members. 44 of them where adults and 5 children. officials have not yet confirmed whether the plane crashed. a land and air search is now underway. an icon of the 1960’s civil rights movement has died. the southern poverty law center says 75-year-old julian bond passed away saturday night in florida after a brief illness. bond served as founding president of the s-p-l-c in the 1970s. the tennessee native was on the forefront of the 1960s civil rights movement, protesting for equal rights for african-americans. he served in the georgia state legislature for 20 years… and was a professor at several universities and chairman of the board of the n- double-a-c-p for more than a decade. it’s not the sort of story you want to hear on sunday morning. a catholic community is in an uproar after a kentucky pastor is suspected of having child pornography. it’s the talk of the catholic community today- a local priest under investigation by the fbi for what may be child pornography. gina kuhn/community member “its an outage, it is. and everyone’s buzzin about it now, everyone’s taking a good look at their own priests now.” gin kuhn doesn’t belong to st. margaret mary parish- the one under father stephen pohl- but says her friends who do are in disbelief. gina kuhn “they couldn’t believe that h could do something like that, they would never think that he could do somthing like that, so they’re shocked.” father pohl has been priest in the louisville area for 30 years- serving most recently at st. margaret mary and before that, bardstown. his position at st margaret mary giving him authority over a school- an idea that has parents on edge. brian reynolds/archdioce se of louisville “families more than anythin else, parents more than anything else, are concerned for their children.” its something that church representatives say they understand and are doing their best to address head on- despite their lack of information. the information they do have was sent out in this letter yesterday- explaining exactly what investigators are looking for. brian reynolds “whenever there’ a question about photographs or pictures, or technology, computers, those are the three things they want- who collects stuff, who initiates stuff, who collects stuff, and who distributes stuff so that’s the nature of the investigation.” churc representatives tell us pohl came to them immediately after being approached by the fbi. they also say keeping their parishioners in the know is their top priority. brian reynolds “we’re concerned that the parishioners know what’s going on.” an appreciate notion, but a situation some say they can’t believe is happening again. although her trust feels broken right now, her hope still lives on… gina kuhn ” just hope its not true, i don’t want it to be true,” a hope shared by many in louisville’s catholic community tonight. new video shows messages and names … written to people missing the wake of deadly explosions in the chinese port city of tianjin. as of this morning more than 50 people have been rescued in the area. that’s after initial explosions killed more than one hundred people, many of them firefighters. dozens of people may still be missing and unaccounted for. and yesterday a new fire burned in the industrial area, which housed very dangerous chemicals. a man is behind bars after leading police in a car chase and injuring other people. police say that a 35 year-old man was pulled over for running a red light. as an officer was pulling him over, he struck a mother and daughter who were on the sidewalk. the man then tried to escape and hit a parked vehicle with four people inside. all victims where sent to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. the man was booked for felony hit-and-run. investigators are still looking into whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash. / still ahead on the borderland’s only weekend morning newscasts… messages and names of the missing and dead
