High School FB: Two A Days – Eastlake
story takes place at eastlake high school… eastlake started the 2014 season 0-3 but reeled off 9 straight wins and got all the way to the regional semi finals… but their magical season came to an end when everman pulled off a fourth quarter come back to win… but now … they’re ready to become one of the state’s newest powerhouses… holguin: ” believe that this is the hardest we’ve ever worked in my four years here. all of us have just been putting in work, we’ve all been here early. we’re here all summer.” martinez: “what we’re trying to do is make even more history and go to state and bring home the first ever el paso state championship trophy.” mata: eastlake is entering just its fourth year of varsity football… but head coach jj calderon has already established a culture of excellence … calderon: our athletes know what our system’s about. not just our schemes, but they know what’s required of them in practice every day. they know what’s required of them in school and what we expect from them in general. we have great leaders. our senior leadership has been great from day one. the new kids on the block are part of the new culture of el paso high school football … they enter the season with one mindset: state title or bust… and they practice like a team which not only hopes to win… but expects to win… vazquez: “it honestly feels lik we’re in mid season form. we’re working at that but we’re not going to be content with it because against everman we got content in the third quarter and we lost so we’re going to work and we’re going to work and we’re going to work.” it’s a ne era for el paso football and eastlake is primed to be one of the pioneer programs to make state history… eastlake has a tough home opener… they play next thursday against el dorado… you can find all of our two a days stories on kvia dot com… tomorrow, we’ll visit with the eastwood troopers… abie han’s fight with freddy lopez
