Man shot in apparent road rage incident

A man is now in the hospital listed in critical condition with multiple gunshot wounds after he was involved in what police have described as a road rage incident on US 54.

The incident happened late Thursday, August 20, around 9:35 p.m. The victim, a 20 year old male, along with 2 passengers were traveling north on US 54 and noticed a vehicle quickly approach and almost collide with their car.

Police describe the car as a silver Honda or possibly an Accord that nearly made contact on the highway. The two men began to flash obscene gestures at each other while driving and then pulled over and continued arguing.

The offender then drew a handgun and shot the victim several times. The victim was rushed to William Beaumont Army Medical Center by the 2 other passengers in his vehicle.

The gunman is still on the loose, and police believe he may have had a female passenger in the car at the time of the shooting. It is still an ongoing investigation and if you have any information you are urged to call Crime Stoppers at 915-566-8477.
