Back to school shopping stresses parents

Back to school shopping is in full swing, and for some the list is quite extensive. Local shoppers are hitting stores looking for supplies from dry-erase markers to protractors before school starts Monday. The long lists of supplies aren’t always cheap.

“Per child I’m at least spending at least $80 per student,” said Candy Medina, a parent shopping with her children. “The schools are asking for more and more things, so it seems like it’s getting longer every year.”

Although back to school may be stressful for some, a few students may find it fun.

“I’m excited to go back and see my friends,” said Vivian Shaheen, 11, a student at Wiggs Middle.

As school starts, school zones will be enforced again, drivers will have to obey speed limits. If you are going to be driving in school zones make sure to watch your surroundings and be cautious of both students and teachers crossing the street.
