Diana Zavala’s legacy lives on

lives make it their mission to make a difference. diana zavala is one of those women. diana died in january after two bouts with ovarian cancer. she didn’t let cancer beat her. last september she sat down with our denise olivas to bring awareness about the symptoms of ovarian cancer through her ” will live” group now, a year later, her husband, mother-in-law and an army of cancer fighters will honor her memory with the second annual 5k walk run. our estela cas sat down with two important women in diana’s life to talk about how they’re working to keep diana’s legacy alive. it was the dawn of a new day to help bring awareness to a deadly disease that was ravaging her body. it was the first annual “i will live” run/walk. but it was the last time diana would publically help raise awareness about ovarian cancer. diana took her last breath three months later. even in her last days, diana wrote letters to her loved ones and to those who she met on her cancer journey. it read in part, ” no, cancer did no defeat me, it did not take my joy, my love for god, family friends, people and my puppy girl.” diana als challenged them to continue to teach others about my joy, my love for god, family friends, people and my puppy girl.” diana also challenge them to continue to teach others about ovarian cancer. her mother-in-law is meeting that challenge and is encouraging her loved ones and to those who she met on her cancer journey. it read in part, ” no, cancer did not defeat me, it did not take my joy, my love for god, family friends, people and my puppy girl.” diana also challenged them to continue to teach others about ovarian cancer. her mother-in-law is meeting that challenge and is encouraging everyone to wear the color teal .. sot which means take early action and live. diana inspired her to talk about the symptoms of ovarian cancer like bloating and back pain. she wanted her mother- in-law to have an open mind and open heart. 13:00 one of the things she said is let the little things slide, and how important our health is because if we don’t have our health we don’t have anything’. diana inspired a lot of people including cecy who like diana was misdiagnosed as having stomach problems. cecy was diagnosed with ovarian cancer five years ago. the cancer is now in her lymph nodes. cecy says she gets tired but pushes herself to help keep diana’s dream alive.. 5:31 did you make these? yes and we are going to get to wear them like this..we’re ready for the 5 k. 8:45 hug—it’s very hard, and we gotta do it, i have my kids and i’m going to be a grandma” diana wh was 35 years old – died fighting to help bring awareness. she included this phrase in her letter: in at 14:06 like diana said: together we will live and together we will make a difference. estela cas abc seven. this sunday — september 13th is the second annual “together w will live” ovarian cancer awarenes 5k run walk at ascarate park. it starts at 8 in the morning. for more information go to www.d-i-w-l- f.org.
