55-year-old woman suffers life-threatening injuries after being struck by vehicle on Mesa

2nd Update: A woman and a child were injured the morning of Oct. 2 when they were struck by a truck in the 4700 block of North Mesa.

The crash happened at about 9:51 a.m. when a 2013 Chevrolet Truck was attempting to exit a private driveway and struck the two female victims as they walked in front of the Truck.

Ema Saenz, 55, and a 7-year-old child were transported to area hospitals to be treated for injuries.

Saenz sustained life-threatening injuries, but the child’s injuries were reported to be minor.

The driver of the truck, 30-year-old Reginald McCoy, was not injured.

Police’s Special Traffic Investigators have determined that failure to yield the right of way to a pedestrian while exiting a private drive is a factor in this crash, according to police.

1st Update: El Paso Police are investigating a traffic collision involving a pedestrian.

The pedestrian was not killed.

It happened in the 4700 block of North Mesa Friday morning.

Police Special Traffic Investigators are investigating the collision.

Expect traffic delays and find alternater route.

Original Story: A woman was taken to University Medical Center after being hit by a car Friday morning.

It happened in the 4700 block of Mesa near the Warren Inn.

Police had one lane on northbound Mesa closed off as they investigated what happened.

Witnesses on the scene told ABC-7 the woman hit her head after being hit by the car. Her young granddaughter was also taken to the hospital but was not hit. The elderly woman is expected to be okay.

No word if the driver will face any charges.
