Supercell moves through the Borderland

A super cell produced strong winds at 70 mph and ping pong/marble sized hail in far southern El Paso county Monday night. The storm lasted several hours as it traveled across northern Mexico.

The storm moved from International Border into the lower valley and Tornillo.
Radar indicated the storm had the potential to produce a tornado, therefore the National Weather Service issued a Tornado Warning.

Once the mesocyclone no longer appeared to be a tornado threat the warning was dropped. Large hail and strong winds continued as the storm tracked into Hudspeth county.

The NWS stated if they receive reports of damage from the storm, they will send a survey crew out to access the damage.

The next storm the weather team is watching, is south, crossing the international border between Sunland Park and downtown El Paso. Overnight storms have the potential to produce small hail and gusty winds.
