UMC, Children’s working on rebuilding trust

children’s hospital will focus on rebuilding trust and making the children’s hospital profitable. now that they seem to have come to an agreement. children’s ceo mark herbers says children’s will not act as a wing of umc – and instead will keep it’s provider number and separate board. he hopes children’s will begin to break even in the beginning of 2016. citing children’s has gone from losing almost three million a month to one million dollars a month now. by cutting operating costs and increasing how many patients it sees and revenue from that: sot full 09:18 the children’s hospital will not be a burden in any way shape or form to any of the taxpayers in el paso county. it’s performing well. 10:45 we really want to do our best to keep the commitment to not using local property tax revenues as a revenue stream for children’s the county and umc did not approve a tax hike – so taxpayers won’t be affected by the merger this year. but it’s a possibility in the future. by the way – that seven million dollars umc is injecting into children’s so children’s can pay its debt: is coming from a line of credit that’ll be paid by umc reserves.
