Insurance companies warn of repair business scams

With many Las Crucens suffering from weather damage after Saturday’s storm, insurance companies are warning everyone to go to a reputable source when looking for repairs.

Farmers Bureau Financial Services is offering a one stop shop for assisting customers who felt the brunt of that storm.

Pat Campbell Insurance tells ABC-7 they’ve processed over 200 claims since Monday.

Officials are warning to be on the lookout for fly-by-night repair businesses swooping into town to make a quick buck.

“There will be a lot people coming into town saying that they can do your work right away,” Jose Cornejo, with Farmers, said. “Be cautious because those folks may not be there in a month or two. Some people are going to represent themselves to be licensed adjusters and contractors. Make sure if they are an adjuster ask if they can issue a check, if they they cannot, go back to the insurance company and ask about that.”
