Weather leads to UTEP women’s basketball game cancellation, NMSU men’s basketball team postponement

Weather issues are creating problems for UTEP and New Mexico State basketball teams that were scheduled to play tonight.

The Aggies men’s basketball team was scheduled to play Wichita State in Kansas tonight but the game has been postponed due to travel problems, according to an NMSU tweet.

The Aggies will try and play the game on Tuesday but the game is still pending based on NMSU’s travel arrangements and the Shocker women’s 7 p.m. tip against Oklahoma Christian.

“We are doing everything within our power to be able to get to Wichita,” said NM State head coach in a statement. “But Mother Nature hasn’t been very cooperative so far. We appreciate Wichita State’s understanding of the situation.”

The Aggies, who were scheduled to travel via commercial flights very early Sunday morning, experienced a series of flight cancellations due to the weather that prevented them from either leaving the El Paso airport or being able to arrive at Wichita.

The UTEP women’s basketball team’s game tonight at home against Eastern New Mexico has been cancelled due to weather problems preventing ENMU from traveling.

The UTEP women’s game will not be rescheduled.
