Man arrested in attempted robbery at credit union

UPDATE:

Crimes Against Persons detectives have charged 40-year-old Roberto Renae Orona with the robbery at the El Paso Teachers Federal Credit Union Thursday.

This happened around 11 a.m. on the 100 block of Village Ct. in West El Paso.

Detectives said Orona went to the teller window inside the credit union and demanded money from the teller.

Officers from the Westside Regional Command Center located just down the street from the credit union responded. Employees who were exiting through the rear door told officers that the suspect was still inside.

The officers went inside and placed Orona, who was unarmed, under arrest without
further incident.

He was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility under a $100,000 bond.
