NMSU Inks 15 on National Signing Day

OnWednesday, National Signing Day, head coach Doug Martin announced the addition of 15 student-athletes for the 2016 football season. The 2016 recruits signed their National Letters of Intent to join the Aggies along with the seven midyear signees from December. Below are the names and bios of each new Aggie.

Shamad Lomax (5’10” – 185 – Copperas Cove HS – Copperas Cove, Texas)

Played at Copperas Cove HS in Copperas Cove, Texas under Dr. Jack Welsh… Named First Team All-District 12-6A as a cornerback and Second Team as a kickoff returner in 2015… Selected First Team All-Central-Texas as a defensive back… Was an honorable mention Academic All-State and Academic All-District 12-6A as a senior… Named Copperas Cove HS Defensive and Special Teams Team MVP in 2015… In 2014, was selected to First Team All-District 12-6A as a safety and Second Team as a kickoff returner… Named First Team All-Central-Texas as a defensive back as a junior… Was Academic All-District 12-6A in 2014… Named Copperas Cove HS Special Teams MVP as a junior… Racked up 68 unassisted tackles in two years… Averaged 3.7 tackles per game through two seasons… Had 3.0 tackles for loss as a senior… Amassed 1.0 sacks for four yards as a senior… Collected five interceptions which included four as a junior and one as a senior… Defended 37 passes and grabbed one fumble recovery in two years… Racked up 864 kickoff return yards on 28 returns for an average of 30.9 yards per return through two seasons… Amassed 30 punt return yards on four returns for an average of 7.5 yards per return in two seasons.

Cameron Loos (6’3″ – 235 – Hockinson HS – Brush Prairie, Wash.)

Played at Hockinson HS in Brush Prairie, Wash. under Rick Steele… Selected First Team All-State Washington 2A and First Team All-Region as a linebacker in 2015… Named GSL (district) Defensive MVP… Earned First Team GSL (District) as a punter in 2015… Named The Columbian’s High School Football Player of the Week on Oct. 31, 2015… Racked up 68 rushing yards and one touchdown on three carries for an average of 22.7 yards per carry as a senior… Amassed 713 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns on 28 receptions for an average of 25.5 yards per reception as a senior… Grabbed a long reception of 80 yards as a senior… Collected 781 total yards and 828 all-purpose yards as a senior… Defensively, amassed 57 tackles with 28 unassisted and 29 assisted tackles as a senior… Garnered 6.0 tackles for loss and 1.0 sacks as a senior… Racked up 13 touchdowns over two years with 12 as a senior and one as a junior to average 1.0 touchdowns per game.

Gamar Girdy (5’9″ – 185 – Victoria West HS – Victoria, Texas)

Kurt Shughart (5’10” – 205 – Chaparral HS – Scottsdale, Ariz.)

Josh Aganon (5’10” – 180 – Mesa CC (Arizona) – Scottsdale

Played at Chaparral HS in Scottsdale, Ariz. and then Mesa Community College in Mesa, Ariz… Earned Second Team All-ACCAC as a wide receiver in 2015… Scored seven touchdowns and collected 633 receiving yards on 62 receptions in 2015.

Conner Cramer (6’2″ – 195 – NMMI JC (New Mexico) – Mobile, Ala.)

Played at Alma Bryant High School in Mobile, Ala. before New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell, N.M… Was a two-time WSFL Offensive Player of the Week… Selected to the All-WSFL First Team in 2015… Averaged 268.2 passing yards per game and racked up 26 touchdown passes and just nine interceptions.
