Police: Pedestrian hit, killed was not in crosswalk
A pedestrian who was struck and killed Monday was not in a crosswalk, Las Cruces police said.
Romy M. Chavarria, 63, was crossing Telshor Boulevard about 8 p.m. when she was hit by an SUV. She was taken to Mountainview Regional Medical Center where she died.
The driver of the SUV remained on scene while several passersby rendered aid.
There were no other injuries.
No charged have been filed, but the investigation continues.
